house rules & faqs

guidelines to keep our space safe, clean & welcoming for everyone

Whether you're staying at Truehouse for a workshop, a creative escape, a summer camp adventure or a weekend with family & friends, our goal is to make your stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. To ensure that everyone has a great experience, we've put together a few house rules to keep things running smoothly. These guidelines help us protect the space, respect our neighbours, and preserve the nature beauty of Prince Edward County. Thank you for helping us create a welcome environment for all of our guests!

  • Please park in the field next to the barn (to the left of the driveway as you enter). The big trees drop branches all year long, so we recommend not parking under any trees in the front area. You are welcome to pull your car up to the front door for loading & unloading.

Our parking area can fit up to approx. 15 regular size cars.

  • Prince Edward County Noise Bylaw prohibits amplified noise between the hours of 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

  • The first floor of the building is wheelchair accessible. There is a ramp up to the front door. And a wheelchair accessible toilet stall in the first floor washroom. Email us at hello@truehouse.ca if you have any questions about accessibility.

  • Enjoy our big fire pit with 12 Muskoka chairs and benches. The fire pit is fully stocked with kindling and cut wood, and you'll find fire starters and lighters in the lobby/reception area.

Please keep fires contained to the pit, never leave a fire unattended, and fully extinguish the fire before leaving.

We will call for a fire permit every day of your stay, if there is a fire ban we will inform guests.

  • Fireworks, fire crackers, or other noisemakers are strictly PROHIBITED on the Truehouse property. Please respect our human and animal neighbours. Fireworks can cause damage, set fires, and be harmful to wild life.

There is a $1000 fine for use of fireworks on the property.

  • Truehouse is a non-smoking building, there is NO smoking allowed inside. Smokers must be at least 20 feet from the building. There are designated smoking areas with ashtrays outside. DO NOT throw butts in the forest.

Do not remove or damage window screens, there is a $200 fine for each screen that is damaged or removed. And there is a $5000 fine for smoking inside the building.

  • Explore our private trails through the backyard with care. The backyard trail leads to our environmentally protected Beaver Pond. Be respectful of their habitat and keep a safe distance.

Check yourself for ticks and bugs when returning inside from walking in the forest.

  • Service Animals are welcome.

You must let us know if you plan to bring pet dog(s). We ask you not to allow dogs off leash on the property at night, and to keep a close eye on them during the day. And please pick up all dog poo and dispose poop bags in the bucket on the side of the house.

There are a lot of wild animals who live around us. The forests are environmentally protected areas, please have respect for the nature around us.

  • Please do not interact with, feed, pick-up, or bring any wild animals inside the building. The backyard nature trail leads to our beloved Beaver Pond. Beavers can be territorial and can attack when confronted, so please keep your distance and respect the nature around you.

  • Please do not leave any food or drinks outside, there are many wild animals and bugs waiting to feast on your leftovers!

  • Please DO NOT leave garbage outside, if the kitchen garbage is full please leave tied bags in the first floor back stairwell.
